Who Leads Us

Congregation Leadership

Servant leaders who give their time and experience to care for the congregation and serve the community.

A Biblical Model of Leadership

The Woodhaven Congregation operates under a Biblical model of leadership established by the apostle Paul in the first century. Rather than a single pastor or paid clergy, the congregation is overseen by a body of elders — a group of spiritually qualified men who lead by example and serve without financial compensation.

Elders are appointed based on their spiritual qualifications, personal conduct, and demonstrated ability to teach and care for others — not by popular vote or professional credentials. Their authority derives from Scripture, and their mandate is always to serve, not to be served.

Ministerial servants support the elders in administrative and practical duties, freeing elders to focus on teaching and pastoral care.

"Whoever wants to be great among you must be your minister, and whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave."

Matthew 20:26–27 — The foundation of servant leadership

Accountable to Scripture and Community

The elders of the Woodhaven Congregation are accountable first to Jehovah God and the standards of Scripture, and secondly to the oversight provided by Jehovah's Witnesses' organisational structure. The governing body of Jehovah's Witnesses provides direction and doctrinal guidance to all congregations worldwide.

Elders do not receive financial payment for their service. They hold regular board meetings to discuss the spiritual welfare of the congregation, coordinate programmes, and address any matters requiring pastoral attention.

As a registered Canadian charity (Registry ID: 765681515RR0001), the Woodhaven Congregation is subject to the reporting requirements of the Canada Revenue Agency, providing an additional layer of transparency and accountability to the public.
