About Our Congregation

Jehovah's Witnesses are a Christian denomination with approximately 8 million members in 240 countries. We base our beliefs entirely on the Bible and use the personal name of God — Jehovah — in our worship. We are known for our door-to-door ministry, our refusal of blood transfusions, and our commitment to political neutrality. The Woodhaven Congregation is one of thousands of congregations in Canada.

Attending a Meeting

Absolutely not. All of our meetings are open to the general public. You do not need to be a Jehovah's Witness, have any prior Biblical knowledge, or make any kind of commitment to attend. Simply come as you are.
Expect a warm welcome at the door. Meetings typically begin on time and last about one to two hours. The format includes talks, a question-and-answer Bible discussion (where participation is voluntary), and congregational singing. There is no passing of a collection plate. Visitors are never singled out or asked to identify themselves publicly.
Our members typically dress in modest, neat attire as a sign of respect for the occasion. However, visitors are welcome in whatever they are wearing. Please do not let concerns about dress prevent you from attending — you are welcome as you are.
Yes, children are very welcome. Our congregation is multigenerational, and children of all ages attend our meetings regularly. Our midweek meeting includes content specifically tailored to be engaging for children and young people.

Bible Studies & Resources

Simply contact us by phone, email, or through our contact form, and let us know you are interested in a Bible study. We will arrange for a trained volunteer to contact you, and together you will agree on a time and location that works for you. There is absolutely no obligation.
Nothing. Our Bible education programme is entirely free. There are no materials costs, no session fees, and no expected contributions. All study materials are provided at no charge. This has been the practice of Jehovah's Witnesses worldwide since the beginning of our history.
Yes. Jehovah's Witnesses produce literature in over 1,000 languages — likely more languages than any other religious organisation in the world. Our congregation can help you access materials in your preferred language. Please contact us to find out what is available.

Common Questions About Beliefs

Jehovah's Witnesses do not observe Christmas, Easter, birthdays, or other holidays that they consider to have pagan origins or are not directed by Scripture. This is a personal and Scriptural conviction. We do, however, observe the Lord's Evening Meal (the Memorial) annually and gather for special occasions throughout the year that are of Scriptural significance.
Jehovah's Witnesses maintain political neutrality — we do not vote, campaign for political parties, or hold political office. This is based on our belief that God's Kingdom, not human governments, is the solution to the world's problems. We are, however, respectful of governmental authority and law-abiding citizens.
Jehovah's Witnesses believe that the Bible's command to "abstain from blood" (Acts 15:28–29) applies to receiving blood transfusions. This is a deeply personal religious conviction. We accept all other medical treatments and actively research and advocate for non-blood surgical and medical alternatives.
Yes, absolutely. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the promised Messiah, and the one through whose sacrifice humanity can receive forgiveness and the hope of eternal life. We follow his teachings and example closely. We do not, however, believe that Jesus is Almighty God — we believe the Bible teaches that Jehovah is the one true God, and Jesus is his Son.
